President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara. As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports referring to the press service of the head of state, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Turkmenistan Valentin Chevalev also attended the meeting.
The sides exchanged views on development of interstate cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, including through the OSCE, which is currently chaired by Ukraine.
In particular, the sides noted that Turkmenistan and Ukraine, being the members of the OSCE, have many opportunities for effective cooperation in enhancing the role of the OSCE in the context of ensuring security of transit of energy resources.
Leonid Kozhara expressed support for Turkmenistan's international initiatives aimed at strengthening the foundations of peace, stability and security at the regional and global scale.
In his turn, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to discuss new proposals of Ukrainian partners, “who have supported the implementation of a number of joint projects in various fields, including such key sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy as oil and gas and transport.”
During the meeting, the sides stressed the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations in trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
During the visit, Leonid Kozhara also had a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where the sides exchanged views on major issues related to the long-term cooperation, including between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
