On the last day of the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the People’s Republic of China, a solemn ceremony of awarding the Turkmen leader a title “Honorary Professor of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine” was held in the People’s Hall.
Opening the ceremony, the Rector of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Su Anlong, greeted the honorary Turkmen guest on behalf of all present and informed that the Academic Council of the University had decided to award the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov the title of Honorary Professor of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in recognition of his services in the development of education, science, democratic development and international cooperation.
Addressing the audience, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to the management and staff of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for granting the high academic title of honorary professor.
In his speech, the head of state highly praised the outcomes of the Turkmen-Chinese summit talks and the status of the current bilateral cooperation.
Then, in the People’s Hall, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang.
The sides discussed issues of the development of the Turkmen-Chinese cooperation and stressed the exceptional nature of outcomes of the negotiations held the day before between the Turkmen leader and President Xi Jinping, which resulted in signing of the solid package of important documents.
Having noted that currently the volume of annual trade turnover between Turkmenistan and China has reached US$ 10 billion, the President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that this figure will be doubled in the next five years.
In the afternoon, in the People’s Hall of China, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang.
During the meeting, held in the amicable atmosphere, the sides exchanged views on a number of key aspects of the bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed mutual confidence that the Turkmen-Chinese relations have a great future based on common interests and similar views on the global development trends.
Thereafter, the President of Turkmenistan headed to Beijing International Airport to depart to the city of Hangzhou.
Here, the Turkmen President visited the West Lake, one of the world-famous natural attractions of China, listed as UNESCO’s World Heritage site.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkmen officials watched the grand show on water. Well-known film director Zhang Yimou, who authored the Oscar-winning movie “The House of Flying Daggers” and directed the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics, created this performance.
Thanking the organizers of the show for such unusual performance, the Turkmen President headed to the International Airport of Hangzhou from where the aircraft of the head of state took off toward Ashgabat.
