“Connectivity and mobility – driving forces of Post 2015 Development Agenda”

The Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN and the Permanent Delegation of International Road Transport Union (IRU) to the UN have the honour to invite you to participate to the event: “Connectivity and Mobility – driving forces of Post 2015 Development Agenda”.

This meeting is organized in the framework of  ″Special event of the President of the General Assembly to follow up the efforts made to achieve the Millennium Development Goals″ and is dedicated to  the role of international road transport in framing the goals and strategies of Post 2015 Development Agenda.

Transportation, connectivity and mobility of people and goods have always played an important role for the international economy, while sustainable transport is a sine-qua-non condition for the successful development of global trade and supply chains. Discussions at the event will be focused on the role of road transport, in particular, for the land-locked developing countries, in achieving sustainable growth, stimulating regional integration, safety and security, reducing poverty - in the context of the Post 2015 Development Agenda. Special attention will be paid to the need for creation of development corridors between two biggest global markets and production centers – between Europe and Asia – in the context of revitalization of the Ancient Silk Road.  

This event will feature two key-note presentations by the Deputy Prime Minister,
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mr.
Rashid Meredov and Under Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Mr. Igor Rounov, followed by speeches of the high-level representatives of the UN agencies, Permanent Missions to the UN and international organizations.

PARTICIPANTS

Up to 70 high-level participants, including UN Secretariat, Heads of Permanent Missions to the UN and representatives of international organizations.

FORMAT

Two hour long panel discussion with two key-note speakers (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mr. Meredov; Under Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Mr. Rounov) and co-speakers (representatives of Permanent Missions to the UN and international organizations) followed by question and answer segment.
