The law “On protection of public health from exposure to tobacco smoke and consequences of tobacco consumption” has been put into force in Turkmenistan.
As the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat, the law defines the principles of state policy in the field of public health protection from exposure to tobacco smoke and consequences of tobacco consumption, and regulates relations arising from import, sale and consumption of tobacco products in Turkmenistan.
The law prohibits smoking in certain areas in the premises of enterprises, organizations and institutions and imposes a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising in all forms and all types in the mass media and places of trade.
According to the law, Turkmenistan will provide appropriate medical care to persons seeking treatment for tobacco use and consequences of tobacco consumption. Such assistance will be provided by public health organizations in accordance with the established standards of medical care, including provision of relevant information.
